Chapter Rules and
Regulations
Purpose
A. To bring together those adult persons in the
community having hearing problems.
The chapter is designed to provide fellowship, empathy and concern based
on common problems.
B.
To provide education for hard-of-hearing persons, their families and
friends on
how best to cope with the problems of hard-of-hearing persons. This is accomplished
by providing and exchanging information relating to the nature,
complications and possible remedies of hearing loss.
C.
To provide for social enrichment of hard-of-hearing people
There are two classes of involvement in the Escondido Chapter:
1. To be a member a
person must pay the prescribed National HLLA dues as well as the
prescribed chapter fees.
2. To be an associate, a person need only
pay the prescribed chapter fees.
Membership
is open to anyone with a hearing loss or other hearing impairment and adult
family members of such persons.
Member meetings are held on the second Saturday of each
month, except August, from 10 am until noon at the Joslyn Senior Center in
Escondido, California. The meetings are open to anyone.
There is a business meeting lasting 45 minutes or less,
during which open discussion time is planned lasting up to 25 minutes. There is
a coffee break social period lasting at least 15 minutes, followed by a program
lasting less than one hour. Programs at
a minimum of 9 meetings per year shall be directly related to hearing
loss. The December meeting is a
Christmas Party without a business meeting.
The Chapter publishes a monthly newsletter which is sent to
all members and at least three times after a person first visits the Chapter.
